When I was offered an ESL teaching opportunity four years ago, I knew I was in for a big challenge. But seeing myself grow with each new learner and hearing them laugh during my lessons, I knew that teaching is the profession for me.
I studied Spanish so I could experience what it is like to attempt to master another language. It was a humbling experience. That experience not only helped me to identify how it feels to be a student, but it also helped me feel the frustrations each student feels. Being a student myself allowed me to uncover ways to make learning more enjoyable.
I love meeting new students, so I start each day with enthusiasm and anticipation to see what new students that day will bring. Each student has their own personality. My challenge is to find ways to unlock the happy student within each personality. I relish the process of getting to know my students, coming to admire their tenacity and desire to improve. I admire the courage and persistence and I applaud their accomplishments.
I hope I can share my sense of play and my intense motivation for language learning with all my students. This is how I approach learning and teaching.
English is enjoyable, useful and even empowering. But, to me the best part is that the process is a lot of fun!
4年前英語講師になると決めたとき、大変な世界に足を踏み入れたと思いました。しかしレッスンでの生徒の笑顔や自分の成長を見ることで、これが自分のやりたいことだとわかりました。
スペイン語を勉強しましたので、言語学習がどのようなものかを経験しています。大した経験ではないのですが、生徒の気持ちを感じるだけではなく、生徒が感じるストレス・挫折を体感する良い経験となりました。生徒になることでより楽しく学習する方法を見つけました。
新しい生徒に出会うことが好きで、情熱、生徒が運ぶ希望を持って一日を迎え入れます。生徒にはそれぞれ個性があります。私の挑戦は一人ひとりの個性に合わせた方法を発見することです。生徒と親しくなっていくプロセス、生徒の持っている粘り強さや要望を感じるプロセスが好きです。勇気、固執、達成を重んじます。
学習に関してのモチベーションや楽しむ方法を共感していただきたいです。
英語は楽しく、役に立ち、力となるものです。しかし私にとっては楽しいプロセスが一番の魅力です。
